Our Stay In Poland - Report of the visit

We had the great pleasure to welcome three groups of teachers and students from the partnership countries cooperating within the Comenius project. The guests came from Romania, Greece and France to take part in the activities and the Festival of culture summarizing the project.

On Monday 11th April the foreign exchanges were officially welcomed at Mikołaj Kopernik Lyceum, took part in the English language classes, and afterwards all the participants were invited by the local authorities to visit the Town Hall in Będzin. In the afternoon the whole group went on a sightseeing tour around Będzin including the old Jewish quarter.

On Tuesday 12th the students went to Auschwitz Camp for a historical visit.

On Wednesday 13th we prepared the whole-day trip to Kraków, which included a guided tour around the old town, the main square and the Wawel castle. During this visit the teachers and student had an opportunity to experience the special atmosphere of the former capital of Poland.

On Thursday 14th the students took part in the English language classes developing the thematic vocabulary concerning literature, as well as preparations for the festival of culture. They were working on the stalls representing the partnership countries and practicing national folk dances and songs.

Friday the 15th was the final element of the schedule – the Festival of Culture. The student had an opportunity to present their countries in different ways – showing the multimedia presentations, taking part in the competition “What Do You Know About The Partnership Countries?”, performing their national folk dances, singing folk songs, preparing and presenting their national dishes. There were also other attractions prepared by the students of our school including a concert of Irish music, saxophone classics, popular songs, and ballroom dances show.

On Saturday and Sunday the groups were preparing for their departures and spent their time with Polish families and friends.

The visit of our Comenius Project partners was the major attraction at our school and it evoked a great interest of other students who did not have a chance to take part in the exchanges. We truly appreciate the successful cooperation with the schools from Romania, Greece and France and we hope that our partners will keep only good memories from their stay in Poland.
